Technical Leader Combustion Materials and Processes

Job Summary
Essential Functions:
- Integrate and develop combustion materials and processes that meet business needs across the organization. Engage in long-term planning.
- Contribute to technical roadmap of combustion materials and process technical strategy and manage complex issues within combustion materials and process application technology.
- Identify evaluate develop and implement combustion material and process advancements to meet near term and long-range engineering needs.
- Provide technical consultation on product problems throughout the business including supplier and field support.
- Lead and provide the key technical direction to large projects with critical business risk and impact.
- Maintain an active role in developing and defining the state of the art in combustion material and fabrication process technology for gas turbine applications
- Develop technologies for product introduction quality performance cost improvements and problem resolution in meeting current and future business needs including adherence to schedules and estimated costs
- Support other GE businesses internal & external GE customers and supplier issues as required.
- Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing product center supplier or field issues.
- Effectively communicate and provide technical recommendations on projects preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers.
- Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company.
- Provide technical guidance direction and training/mentoring to new and experienced materials engineers specialists and interns.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Minimum of 7 years experience in gas turbine engineering with at least 5 years in combustion/materials engineering.
- Ability to access and handle US Export Controlled information
Desired Characteristics:
- Masters or PhD advanced degree preferred
- Knowledge in metal forming welding brazing thermal spray coatings oxidation corrosion wear failure analysis and root cause analysis
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Problem analysis and resolution skills
- Demonstrated experience in development implementation and qualification of coatings used in gas turbine product applications
- Demonstrated ability to document plan market and manage programs that further the knowledge understanding and capability of the business
