Technical Instructor of Electric Lineworker

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

• Teach 15 credit hours per semester and maintain 5 hours of office hours per week.
• Work independently as well as in collaboration with colleagues to develop innovative curriculum which meets the needs of our diverse population of students.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and experience in the field of electric lineworking using the most current equipment and other technology to enhance instruction in necessary areas.
• Working knowledge and skill of up-to-date industrial trade principles methods and techniques
• Determine program needs maintain equipment and maintain program budget
• The successful applicant will positively interact with students business and industry representatives other educators and educational institution representatives and the public in a professional manner
• Assist in recruitment advisement placement development of cooperative work experience opportunities for students and follow-up of students
• Serve as representative of the department by participating in committees task forces and events at the campus college and/or state levels
• Excellent organization communication and presentation skills. Positive and enthusiastic attitude
• Coordinate industry engagement with local employers for advisory committee internship and other industry specific needs
• Perform all responsibilities and instructional duties in accordance with local state and federal regulations as well as CMU/CMU Tech policies and procedures
• Ensure the maintenance of appropriate approvals & accreditation maintain and develop the curriculum in step with industry and state requirements

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position reports to the Director of Instruction. Position may require training and supervision of part-time instructors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

• Certificate from an accredited institution in related field
• Minimum of 4000 hours of experience in electric line working in the last 7 years.

PREFERRED:

• Associates degree or higher in related field
• Supervisory experience
• Evidence of teaching ability and or previous teaching experience as a lineman

COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability to utilize PowerPoint Learning Management System technology to maintain grades and content.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply accounting models and mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form to interpret an extensive variety of legal and regulatory documents and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud at times with several disruptions throughout the day.
