TECHNICAL FIELD TRADES TRAINER
Location: St. Louis (ECS HQ Westport area) travel
Travel: 70% - this is a heavy travel role. Could be out almost an entire month in peak periods and must be willing to drive a trailer behind you.

Compensation: $80000 $90000 base plus 10% short-term incentive tied to company performance and individual objectives set collaboratively in the first 90 days.
WHAT THE ROLE ACTUALLY IS

Delivery-focused in-person ILT Instructor and Video Led Training at customer sites and Video VILT from the studio in Westport Plaza (biweekly Thursdays) and University monthly two-day courses starting September. Class sizes are typically under 20. Pull slides from predefined templates and modify them for a specific customer or session. Person delivers ILT and VILT maintain training rooms track participation handle equipment and support sessions.

The person will also be responsible for maintaining training equipment - including building new mockups when needed (think riser assemblies simulated building system components). This is not a pure office role. If something breaks they fix it. If a new training prop needs to be built they build it. That hands-on component is real and non-negotiable.

Role could grow into a supervisory function over pure trainers. Thats not day-one scope but its the growth path.

Youre helping professionals protect buildings systems and lives from hidden corrosion. Its a niche that matters and its growing.

WHAT THEYRE LOOKING FOR - AND YOU WEIGHT IT

Field experience in building systems fire protection HVAC mechanical/plumbing or equivalent.

Need to have hands-on comfort working with training a room full of tradespeople and do have enough field background to have credibility.

Formal ID credentials or certifications are not required - they dont need to know Kirkpatricks four levels.

What they need is the capacity to absorb technical content understand what different audiences need to know and help translate that into curriculum. Someone who has been out in the field doing the work and can also communicate it well.

Field experience vectors that translate well:
- Fire protection / fire sprinkler industry (strongest fit)
- Commercial HVAC
- Commercial plumbing / mechanical
- Building systems generally (mechanical electrical plumbing - MEP ecosystem)
- Field service with customer-facing responsibilities
- Anyone who has done installation maintenance or troubleshooting of complex equipment. Anyone who can install and maintain two-story precision microscopes used in medical research is the kind of electro-mechanical aptitude and field fluency theyre looking for.

The technical domain can be learned; the aptitude and the credibility are harder to fake.

Key points to consider if applying for this role

1. Need to be hands-on technical comfort comfortable with being questioned hard in the room able to go with the flow and not need everything mapped out before they can operate.
   Soldered a pipe or know what a flux is Pipe fitters sprinkler contractors building systems technicians - this role may fit you but someone comfortable getting their hands dirty in a technical environment might be the right fit. Youre training - pipe fitters sprinkler contractors engineers and building owners. This person needs to be able to stand in front of tradespeople and hold the room.
   
2. Do you mind driving a trailer Clients do domestic training within an 8-hour drive this person may pull a trailer loaded with equipment - generators air compressors mock fire sprinkler valves. The person needs to be comfortable driving with a trailer. Not a disqualifier if you have not done it but comfort level matters and it will come up.
   
3. This role requires up to 70% Travel. Client trains all over nationally and internationally. Driving distance (8 hours): may involve trailering equipment to the customer site or a union hall with equipment on location.
   Beyond that: fly and coordinate equipment separately (customer-owned or union hall).
   International travel is a possible as well but not been required yet - all international training has been done virtually.
   Passport required within 6 months of hire.
   Travel is predominantly weekday with occasional weekend stayovers for international trips. December and July are historically light travel months. Travel ebbs and flows - December and July are light. Other months they may be out almost the full month. This is not a lifestyle role. Lead with it.
   
4. Can you lift over 50 lbs; team-lift up to 125 lbs Travel with toolset and luggage over 50 lbs. Prolonged standing during training sessions. Home office required for VILT on non-travel weeks.

- Walk through a technical or field experience or hands on training experience
- Trained tradespeople
- Comfortable driving with a trailer
- Handle a fast-moving environment where the roadmap isnt always clear.
- Able to build or fix something to make training work.
- Experience with building or mechanical systems - MEP HVAC alarms fire protection
