Job Summary
Marathon Targets mission is to deploy the worlds most advanced Autonomous Robotic Training Systems. We solve a critical real-world training gap which ensures that the first time a shooter fires live ammunition at a realistic moving target isnt in a real firefight. This role involves operating and maintaining the robotic targets in support of training.
Tasks
Primary tasks include:
External
- Liaison with military personnel
- Expand military leadership (and trainers) knowledge on how to best integrate our system in their training.
- Increase customer base and maximize utilization within our existing customer base.
- Liaison with government civilians
- Ensure we meet and exceed contractual obligations.
- Ensure that Marathon has an excellent reputation in the eyes of the government.
- Solve issues that arise in a manner that is satisfactory for both the government and Marathon
Internal
- Asset management
- Maintain 100% accountability of all issued equipment.
- Ensure all equipment is kept fully functional.
- Implement and enforce Marathon procedures.
- Personnel management
- Effectively communicate company information and ensure compliance by employees.
- Schedule personnel ensuring the mission is achieved and personnel arent overworked/underworked.
- Act as local level HR and liaising with the HR Manager and Training Service Office Leadership
- Communication with management
- Ensure management is aware of problems being faced at the site.
- Inform Training Service Office Leadership of all government questions concerns and incidents.
- Communicate summarized state of your site to Training Service Office Leadership and other internal stakeholders
- Work with the business development team to increase Marathons footprint in the local area.
- Manage an appropriate level of local spares and bring to Training Service Office Leaderships attention any discrepancies.
Range Ops
- Discuss training with instructors translating trainers intent into software scenarios which the robots can execute.
- Transportation of the robot system to the training location (Driving pick-up truck with trailer or box type truck carrying equipment)
- Range set-up: set up communications equipment surveying the range clearing robot running areas of large debris.
- Oversee the targets during training and monitoring their state through the robot-control software.
- Adapt the targets behavior on the spot according to progress of trainees and real-time directions from instructors.
- Robot maintenance and charging.
- Report on training activities and target usage.
- Coordinate with Marathon staff to facilitate improvements based on actual usage.
- Educate military personnel on the targets capabilities and limitations.
Skills/Attributes
This role does not require any specific technical expertise however a technical mindset and the ability to troubleshoot is essential. We will provide training in the particulars of operation/maintenance of the system.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/attributes:

- Proficiency in operating the computer based fielded systems
- Effective communication with customers and team members

- Ability to mentor/train other staff
- Prior service with the US DoD/military or Law Enforcement
- Ability to work in the field and a willingness to get hands dirty

- Ability to work effectively without supervision
- Ability to deal with uncertainty and changing plans and accommodate last minute requests with a willingness to put yourself at the pain points (long hours nights weekends)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a strict background check through the government/law enforcement vetting process
- Hold a valid drivers license and be able to pass a DOT CDL Physical Exam
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to travel interstate on short notice
- Present a professional appearance and demeanour at all times.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift/carry up to 75lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to move with a sense of urgency during tactical scenarios
- Ability to work outside
- Keep pace with customers in a physical demanding environment if needed
- Ability to walk with the units in full kit.
