Teaching Assistant

The CSNA Program is seeking a motivated Teaching Assistant (TA) to support instructors and students across its cybersecurity and network administration coursework. This role is centered on core TA responsibilities helping instructors deliver course content supporting student learning and maintaining hands-on lab environments while also contributing to the programs efforts to reach prospective students and build the programs reputation as a trusted resource on cyber workforce topics. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with technical cybersecurity skills and an interest in education curriculum development and program outreach.

Instructional & Classroom Support

• Assist instructors in preparing and organizing course materials assignments and lab exercises for CSNA classes.

• Hold regular office hours and tutoring sessions to help students with coursework and lab exercises.

• Grade assignments quizzes and lab work according to instructor-provided rubrics and provide clear constructive feedback.

• Monitor course platforms (LMS email discussion boards) and respond promptly to student questions.

• Support in-class and online lab sessions including live technical troubleshooting for students.

• Assist with proctoring exams and practical/hands-on assessments as needed.

Lab & Learning Environment Development

• Design build and maintain penetration testing labs and simulated environments used in coursework under the direction of course instructors.

• Develop and test hands-on lab exercises that reinforce course learning objectives.

• Set up and support demonstration lab environments for visiting high school prospective students as part of recruitment and outreach events.

• Troubleshoot lab infrastructure (virtual machines networking tools/platforms) before and during class and outreach sessions.

Program Outreach & Workforce Content Support

• Research and help identify viable content marketing pathways for reaching prospective online domestic students working in coordination with program leadership.

• Source cyber workforce education content ideas by engaging with recruiters mid-career professionals and current Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) research and data.

• Help translate research and industry insight into content ideas that support the programs efforts to be recognized as a knowledgeable trusted resource on cyber workforce topics.

• Assist in organizing and maintaining a repository of workforce and industry insights for use in coursework outreach materials and prospective-student communications.

• Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a cybersecurity computer science information technology or related program.
• Prior experience as a TA tutor or mentor is a plus.

• Working familiarity with penetration testing concepts and tools (e.g. Kali Linux Metasploit virtualization platforms) preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to students of varying skill levels.
• Comfortable conducting research and synthesizing information from multiple sources including industry professionals and public data (e.g. BLS).
• Detail-oriented self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Genuine interest in cybersecurity education curriculum development and workforce development.
