Teaching Assistant — Foundations in Digital Culture (MD-UY 2014)

NYU Tandon is seeking a Teaching Assistant for MD-UY 2014: Foundations in Digital Culture a 4-credit course surveying the historical and critical foundations of digital media art and culture from Fluxus and net art to VR bioart and computational media.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with lead instructor Ruby Thelot

• Lead a weekly recitation section (2 hours/week)

• Support student learning and discussion of course material

• Hold limited office hours / be available for student questions as needed

• No course development or lecture preparation required

Applicants should have:

• Familiarity with digital/new media art critical theory or media studies

• Comfortable facilitating discussion-based sessions crits and carrying out grading

• Prior TA or teaching experience a plus but not required

Details

• Time commitment: 1.50 hours/week (recitation) plus minimal prep

• Format: In-person at Metrotech Campus Brooklyn

• Compensation is in accordance with NYUs bargaining agreement with ACT-UAW Local 7902.

• Schedule: Wednesdays 6PM - 7:50PM throughout fall 2026.

• A completed graduate degree (Masters PhD) or a college degree (BS BA BFA) and ten years of relevant professional experience will be considered.
