This is a 1.0 FTE continuing contract Structured teaching positionatHarbour Pointe Middle School effective the 2026-2027 school year. Structured is a program for students with Autism or other charachteristics often associated with Autism who require predictable routines and visually based instruction.
Class size: Up to 11 students with a teacher and 2 classroom paraeducators.
Minimum Qualifications:Valid Washington state teaching certificate witha special education endorsement.
Salary listed is for the 2025-2026 school year.
JOB TITLE: SPECIAL SERVICES TEACHER
JOB SUMMARY: Plan prepare and deliver a quality educational program based upon state standards district curriculumIEPgoals and effective instruction to students with diverse needs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan andprovideclear and intentional focused instruction based uponindividualstudentIEPgoals using state standardssubject mattercontent and district curriculum.
- Recognizeindividualstudent learning needs and develop strategiesto addressthose needsfor the purpose ofpromotingindividualachievement.
- Implement effective teaching practicesfor the purpose offacilitating achievement for each student.
- Use multiple student data elementsfor the purpose ofassessing student progress modifying instruction and improving student learning.
- Communicate and collaborate with parents and school communityfor the purpose offostering student success and achievement and meeting special education laws and policies.
- Foster and manage a safe positive learning environmentfor the purpose ofpromoting effective student behavior and success.
- Maintain andsubmitinformation/records including student progress.
- Participate in andfacilitatevarious meetingsfor the purpose ofaddressing student goals and needs and to meet laws and policies. Meetings may include school and department manifestation determination eligibility evaluation and placement.
- Maintain and process accurate records/documents as required by State and Federal regulations and district policy.
- Direct the work of assigned classified staff.
- Implement and comply with District policies and the Code of Professional Conduct.
- Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by the supervisor
JOB REQUIREMENTS; MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Skills Knowledge and Abilitiesrequired to satisfactorilyperformthe functions of the job include:

- Knowledge and skill in designing and conducting specialized instruction remediation and evaluation.

- Ability to interact and collaborate positively and effectively with parents students staff and administrators.
- Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats with a variety of constituents.
- Skills and abilities in organization time management and record keeping.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability and commitment to strengthen job-related competencies.
EDUCATION:
- Valid Washington State certification withappropriateendorsement(s)
- Meet highly qualified requirementsrelative toassignment
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Successful experience as a special education teacher preferred
- Second language or language acquisition background preferred
- Student cultural and economic diversity experience preferred
