Job Summary
Job Purpose Statement/s: The position of the K-12 Multi-Grade Teacher is responsible for facilitating student academic success in the Olympia Regional Learning Academys (ORLA) hConnect program and iConnect program.
In addition to teaching multi-grade classes in a variety of subject areas teachers work in close partnership with parents through on-going communication in the development of a course study for each students academic program; advising and educating parents/guardians on the use of a variety of curricula to reach educational goals; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/assessments; fostering a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students parents and the administration regarding student progress.
ORLA is an innovative academy offering three different programs unique to the greater South Sound region. This is a 0.2 FTE continuing positions.
This position involves instructing students in grades K-12 for our hConnect program. The classes will cover a variety of subjects including PE English language arts math and social studies and will vary from semester to semester. Classes will be offered on Mondays Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Applicants should have prior experience working in a home partnership program and in instructing students in a K-12 school.
Employees will receive vacation leave paid holidays and additional compensation beyond their base salary as outlined in their Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Essential Job Functions and Qualifications:
Demonstrated history of incorporating a high volume of experiential and creative activities into student learning
Demonstrated history of teaching science math history and/or English at the secondary level
Desire to teach classes in subjects and skill areas of interest in a non-conventional school setting.
Demonstrated history of instruction integrating disciplines and collaborating closely with fellow teachers
Demonstrated history of working in a setting with high parental involvement
Strength in building good relationships with students and their families
Proficiency in the use of technology as a tool for communication and instruction and prior demonstrated use of technology in regular teaching practices
Ability to write and effectively monitor written student learning plans under Alternative Learning Experience guidelines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; desire to develop strong working relationships with parents through frequent face-to-face conferences by phone and email.
Ability to design lessons centered around student interest and/or strengths
Ability to work effectively with volunteers
Strong organization skills and attention to detail
Other Job Functions:
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Participates in various meetings (e.g. parent conferences in-service training site meetings etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information and/or meeting credential requirements.
Teams with other staff to organize student and family activities at school.
Job Requirements Qualifications:
Experience Required: Prior successful experience teaching and demonstrated knowledge and history of executing essential compliance practices under recent Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) guidelines is preferred. An endorsement in math science history or English Language arts is required.
Skills Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Knowledge of age appropriate teaching methods state curriculum framework education code appropriate instructional subjects; Superior interpersonal skills; Flexibility in adjusting to program/school changes as needed to best serve student learning interests and family needs.
Licenses Certifications Bonding and/or Testing Required: Teaching credentials for appropriate level of instruction and/or subjects; Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
