Teacher Child Care

The position Teacher Child Care is responsible for providing high quality care and education in a stimulating child-centered environment that promotes learning and healthy development of the children charged to our care. Consistently communicating with each childs care givers to ensure the Child Care center and the staff are providing the high quality individualized care that each child requires and meets the needs of the individual family. The Teacher Child Care will follow UPH department as well as state specific policies and accrediting bodies policies and best practices as established.

• Assumes all classroom responsibilities to include planning a developmentallyappropriate environment.
• Provides individualized lessons for each child based on their goals and learningobjectives. Follows the philosophy and practice of the program curriculum.
• Maintains effective and respectful partnerships with parents families staff and administration including daily communication effective problem solving and coordination of care.
• Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information and advises parents on issues of child development.
• Responsible for the supervision of children within sight and soundat all timesto ensure the health and safety of each child.
• Interacts with and guides children both individually and in small groups using positive developmentallyappropriateand respectful techniques.
• Meets the daily and ongoing social emotionalphysicaland cognitive needs of all children. Maintainsaccurateand complete attendance tracking records.
• Monitors facility and/or environment for changes hazards and problems that may occur and takesappropriate actionto ensure safety of childrenstaffand parents
• Observes children daily for signs of illness injury abuse neglect and assessing each childs health and development.
• Mandated to report suspected child abuse & neglect to Child Protection Services. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive informationregardingchildrenparent& families.
• Complieswithall State and Accreditation Standards
• Evaluatemonitor andmaintainrecords on childrens participation and development.
• Provide four times per year assessments of childrens development and written evaluations of childrens progress during Winter and Spring parent teacher conferences.
• Participatesin morning huddles staffmeetingsand continuing education events. Completes Professional Development Responsibilities to promote continued growth and development andsupportsefforts to serve as a community resourceofhigh qualitychild care.
• Shows initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed expectations by living UPH Values and Standards.

Education:

• For Accredited Centers Associates Degree in Early Child Educationor related field or equivalent required.
• For Accredited Centers BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or related field with 10 hours of infant/toddler training preferred.

Experience:

• 240 hours of experience in a licensed center home or approved childcare setting required.
• Five (5) years teaching in an accredited centeris preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Current and will be maintained Certification of Pediatric First Aid and CPR required within 90 days of hire.
• TrainingforMandatory reporting of Child Abuserequired within 90 days of hire.
• Training for Mandatory reportingof Dependent Adult Abuse required within 90 days of hire.
• Essentials Child Care Preservice required within 90 days of hire.
