Summary:Lindbergh Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Teacher Assistant to support the implementation of an alternative learning and suspension program serving students in grades 612. This position works closely with the classroom teacher to provide academic behavioral and social-emotional support to students who may be on suspension behind in credits or experiencing behavioral challenges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support to students who are on suspension credit-deficient or experiencing behavioral challenges
• Assist students with completing assignments coursework and credit recovery tasks
• Support students in developing organizational study and time management skills
• Build positive relationships with students to promote engagement and trust
• Assist in implementing behavior expectations routines and intervention strategies
• Support students in developing self-regulation decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Help maintain a structured safe and respectful learning environment
• Monitor student behavior and provide redirection as needed
• Work under the direction of the teacher to support daily instruction
• Provide small group or one-on-one academic assistance
• Assist with preparing instructional materials and classroom activities
• Support differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs
• Assist in helping students stay on track academically and develop the skills needed for successful reentry into the traditional school setting.
• Supervise students during transitions breaks and assigned program activities
• Assist in maintaining accurate records related to student progress attendance and behavior
• Support the teacher in implementing program expectations and routines
• Help ensure consistency in program structure and expectations

Working Conditions:

• Daily interaction with students requiring additional academic and behavioral support
• May include working with students assigned to suspension or alternative programming
• Requires consistent supervision movement and engagement throughout the school day

Qualifications & Requirements:

• High school diploma required; associates degree or college coursework preferred
• Experience working with adolescents particularly students with behavioral or academic challenges preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to remain calm patient and consistent in a structured environment
• Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students
