Teacher Apprenticeship Program (Internal Applicant)

To be eligible for this opportunity applicants must already hold an associate degree from an accredited institution.

Selected apprentices will be expected to:

• Apply for admission to Averett University.
• Complete the FAFSA and all required financial aid documentation.
• Remain employed with Danville Public Schools throughout the apprenticeship.
• Successfully complete college coursework while maintaining satisfactory academic progress.
• Participate in all apprenticeship requirements including mentor meetings and clinical experiences.
• Complete the required Praxis assessments during the first year of the program.

The Grow Your Own Registered Teacher Apprenticeship is designed as a two-year program. Funding has been awarded for the first year and our partnership intends to apply for continuation funding to support participants during the second year. While every effort will be made to secure continuation funding future funding is contingent upon grant availability and approval.

Upon successful completion of the program and teacher licensure requirements participants will enter into a three-year employment agreement with Danville Public Schools in accordance with the apprenticeship agreement.
