A well-established bookkeeping and tax firm is seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to join its team. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside knowledgeable accounting professionals while helping clients navigate tax season with confidence and accuracy. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys detailed work solving problems and delivering high-quality service.
- Prepare individual and business tax returns
- Review and enter financial information from client documentation
- Analyze records for discrepancies missing information or potential issues
- Develop client follow-up questions and gather supporting documentation as needed
- Maintain accurate and organized tax records
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and firm procedures
- Collaborate with accounting staff to provide exceptional client service
- Full-time hours during tax season (approximately February through mid-April)
- Additional hours may be available during peak filing periods
- Transition to a part-time schedule following tax season (15 to 20 per week)
- Typical work hours are between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday
- Occasional Friday or Saturday hours may be required during the busiest weeks of tax season
- With this being a part-time job traditionalbenefits like health insurance are not available. But the client is committed to being flexible with the schedule.
- Minimum of two years of professional tax preparation experience with an accounting bookkeeping or tax services firm
- Ability to provide professional references related to tax preparation experience
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work accurately under deadlines and follow established procedures
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Formal tax preparation training certification or related coursework
- Accounting or bookkeeping background
- Experience preparing business partnership corporate nonprofit or trust tax returns
- Familiarity with tax preparation software and electronic filing systems
