Range Explanation:
Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills qualifications experience education licenses training and internal equity.
Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position.
Supervises coordinates and participates in the accounting work and commercial services for Pima County Treasurers Office.
Essential Functions:
As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act this classification may include any of the following tasks knowledge skills and other characteristics. Supervises tax collection and administrative operations provides active support to all functional areas and oversees daily operations in the supervisors absence;
Performs as team lead by guiding training and supporting staff and identifying operational problems to communicate to management;
Coordinates commercial services for bulk payers paying agents and tax lien investors ensuring accurate submission of funds and supporting documentation;
Reviews and reconciles commercial data files generates bulk payment files and tax due reports and performs data analysis to identify inconsistencies;
Collaborates with agency representatives to resolve errors prior to posting and ensures accurate processing of commercial payments;
Reviews and researches automated payment file exceptions makes adjustments closes batches prepares refund memorandums and manually resolves exceptions;
Collects verifies and posts payments to the County Treasurers system and reconciles daily collections by researching and correcting errors;
Prepares accounting documents such as deposit permits general journals and refund memorandums and reviews reconciliation documents prepared by staff;
Reviews property tax statements and records verifies ownership and classification and advises the public on necessary updates or corrections;
Researches erroneous payments coordinates resolutions with appropriate parties and fulfills research requests from the public County projects tax lien investors mortgage companies and tax services;
Documents research results refund and reallocation requests and public inquiry details in parcel notes and maintains required supporting documentation;
Maintains statutory and procedural knowledge provides information on Arizona Revised Statutes protects sensitive information and supports database input and technical issue resolution.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting business administration and management or a closely related field as defined by the department head at the time of recruitment.
(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
OR:
Two years of experience with Pima County as a Tax Collection Specialist II or another paraprofessional/professional job classification with accounting or finance functions or related position as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Minimum two (2) years experience as a Tax Collection Specialist II for Pima County.
Minimum two (2) years in a supervisory position.
Experience with/knowledge of accounting principles practices and methods.
Experience with/knowledge of Arizona Revised Statutes related to property taxes.
Selection Procedure:

Licenses and Certificates: Some positions require a valid Arizona Class D driver license at the time of application or appointment. Failure to obtain/maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination.
