Job Summary

As a Tax Analyst II you play a key role in supporting Rockets federal tax compliance and tax accounting functions. You are detail-oriented take ownership of your work and are motivated to continuously learn and grow within a dynamic corporate tax this position you will prepare and analyze tax-related workpapers support tax provision calculations research tax issues and ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations. Your analytical skills and commitment to accuracy will directly impact the companys tax strategy and regulatory compliance.

About therole

  • Prepare and analyze book-to-tax adjustments and supporting workpapers used to calculate taxable income for multiple legal entities on a monthly quarterly and annual basis.

  • Coordinate with accounting and finance teams to gather validate and analyze financial data required for tax compliance and tax accounting activities.

  • Support the preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns ensuring timely and accurate filings.

  • Assist with quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations in accordance with ASC 740 including current and deferred tax analyses.

  • Research and document federal and state tax issues regulations and legislation to support compliance and planning activities.

  • Prepare responses to tax notices and assist with federal and state income tax audits as needed.

  • Maintain tax records workpapers and supporting documentation in accordance with internal controls and compliance requirements.

Aboutyou

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.

  • 24 years of tax experience within a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.

  • Experience supporting federal and/or state income tax compliance and tax return preparation.

  • Experience with income tax provisions and ASC 740.

  • Experience utilizing tax compliance and provision software such as OneSource CorpTax or similar platforms.

  • Foundational knowledge of tax accounting concepts including book-to-tax differences.

  • Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to federal income tax audits tax research or tax planning activities.

  • Experience with tax research platforms such as Thomson Reuters Checkpoint Bloomberg Tax or CCH.

  • Familiarity with Alteryx automation tools AI-enabled solutions or other technologies used to improve tax processes.

  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA licensure.

  • Masters degree in Taxation or Accounting.
