Location: Houston TX (Hybrid Onsite TueThu Remote: Mon & Fri)
Duration:12 Months W2 Contract
Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours/week)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Business Analyst II / Tax Analyst to join a dynamic finance and tax team supporting NextEra Energy. This role focuses on tax compliance financial analysis and reporting supporting both ongoing operations and project-based initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review federal state and local tax returns including schedules extensions and payment estimates
  • Support corporate income tax partnership and consolidated tax filings
  • Conduct financial and economic analysis to support budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Interpret financial reports and tax data to support business decisions
  • Research and respond to government agency inquiries related to compliance and filings
  • Prepare tax calculations and documentation to support tax audits and controversy analyses
  • Support tax assumptions and modeling for business and project initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate reporting and compliance
  • Utilize tools like Excel and financial systems for analysis and reporting
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
  • 2 years of experience in tax accounting or financial analysis
  • Strong knowledge of tax compliance and reporting
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis
  • Solid understanding of GAAP principles
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification
  • Masters degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience with corporate and partnership tax filings
  • Exposure to regulatory reporting and tax research
Work Environment
  • Hybrid schedule:
    • Monday & Friday: Remote
    • Tuesday Thursday: Onsite (Houston office)
  • Initial training period will be fully onsite
