Systems Engineer

Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team in Norman OK supporting the National Weather Service (NWS) Radar Operations Center (ROC). You will become an integral part of the Systems Engineering team within the Engineering Division which serves as the technical backbone for the NEXRAD network.

The Systems Engineering team acts as the primary technical authority for the radar networks computer systems telecommunications and security this role you will support the Engineering Division by navigating complex feasibility studies implementing NOAA-directed secure benchmark configurations and analyzing radar performance data. From reviewing complex design modifications to ensuring compliance with federal Information System policies this program offers the opportunity to directly impact the reliability of the nations weather infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide system design and requirements analysis for complex computer systems.
• Conduct feasibility cost/benefit and alternatives analysis for modifications and large-scale product improvement programs.
• Develop documentation including technical specifications design documents and system integration plans.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of hardware software and systems components.
• Perform system integration and testing activities to validate system functionality and performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to system design integration and performance.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends related to computer systems and architecture.

Job Requirements:

• 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
• Active/Current Public Trust Clearance - US Citizenship required
• Experience providing system design and requirements analysis for complex computer systems is desired.
• Advanced degrees in a relevant technical field may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement.
• Experience conducting feasibility cost/benefit and alternatives analyses for system modifications and product improvement programs is desired.
• Strong technical writing documentation and presentation skills.
• Experience developing engineering documentation requirements specifications test plans and design artifacts.
• Knowledge of computer hardware systems software systems architecture and systems integration principles.
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or similar Linux-based operating systems.
• Experience supporting systems and networking devices utilizing embedded Linux platforms.
• Familiarity with network design and administration concepts including IPv4 IPv6 subnetting Network Address Translation (NAT) routing switching and Access Control Lists (ACLs).
• Ability to translate operational requirements into practical and sustainable technical solutions.
• Experience with radar systems radar engineering concepts or radar equipment is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with Systems Engineering practices and frameworks such as INCOSE methodologies is desirable.
• Relevant technical training or certifications in radar systems systems engineering Linux administration or networking are desirable.
