The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) organization Intelligence Systems portfolio is seeking a System Administrator (Experienced Senior or Lead) to join our Mission Operations team in Herndon VA.
Our team focuses on delivering complex solutions in some of the most challenging environments on Earth. We provide support for our Mission Operations Portfolio area which design build test deploy operate and maintain a wide variety of mission critical platforms and systems for commercial and government customers.
The System Administrator will perform system administration tasks to include infrastructure administration and automation information security support and configurations software and OS installation/updates and follow configuration/change control processes. The System Administrator will create new solutions to solve hard technical problems and provide system support using best practices with modern and innovative tooling. The System Administrator will support the design validation and configuration management of computing systems and monitor system performance to support capacity planning backup and disaster recovery planning.
Position Responsibilities:
Monitoring system performance troubleshooting issues and performing regular maintenance tasks such as applying updates patches and security fixes
Assist Network Engineers with configuring and managing network services such as DNS DHCP and Active Directory to facilitate communication and resource sharing within the network
Assist with implementing and managing backup strategies to ensure data protection and disaster recovery capabilities in case of system failures or data loss
Assist with implementing and maintaining security measures including firewalls endpoint protection and access controls to protect the system from unauthorized access malware and other security threats
Analyzing system performance identifying bottlenecks and implementing optimizations to improve overall system efficiency and responsiveness
Maintaining accurate documentation of system configurations procedures and troubleshooting steps as well as generating reports on system performance security and compliance
Participating in the planning and implementation of new systems upgrades and migrations ensuring compatibility and adherence to best practices
Staying up to date with the latest technologies industry trends and security practices and continuously improving skills and knowledge
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
This position requires an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance and current FSP (Full Scope Polygraph) (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
Level 3: 3 years of related work experienceor an equivalent combination of education and experience
3 years experience in System Administration across Windows and Linux environments
Experience managing and maintaining servers workstations and related infrastructure components
In-depth knowledge and experience with various versions of Windows and Linux Servers including installation configuration and administration
Experience with Active Directory Group Policy DNS DHCP and other core services
Advanced troubleshooting skills and problem-solving abilities and able to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
Strong knowledge of security best practices
Experience with security auditing vulnerability assessments and incident response is also valuable
Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware Hyper-V Proxmox and/or AHV
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Level 4: 5 years of related work experienceor an equivalent combination of education and experience
Level 5: 10 years of related work experienceor an equivalent combination of education and experience
Associate degree or higher in a relevant field
Expertise in on-premises virtualization (AHV VMWare ESXi Hyper-V etc.) and/or cloud expertise (AWS or Azure)
Experience with VDI infrastructure monitoring infrastructure securing infrastructure
Cloud INFOSEC and/or any recent IT certifications

Summary pay range for Experienced (Level 3): $102850.00 - $139150.00
Summary pay range for Senior (Level 4): $128350.00 - $173650.00
Summary pay range for Lead (Level 5): $158950.00 - $215050.00
