Job Summary:
In this role you will support the administration of the survey work request program. You will assist drone pilots with inspecting equipment and completing pre and post flight checklists. You will calibrate survey instruments review computations prepare drawings and provide technical support. Your work will ensure the accurate layout of construction work data accuracy and efficiency of survey activities. #LI-BH1
Major Responsibilities:
Provide Construction Survey support to the PC and Project Survey Manager.
Support the survey teams implementation of the project safety quality and environmental programs.
Assist the PC with the accurate layout of construction work recordation of field data according to job specifications and appropriate methods of performing survey activities.
Perform duties of a Rod Person and/or Instrument Person on a direct-hire survey crew; operates the survey instrument(s) rod staff GNSS rover and other survey implements as required in accordance with Bechtel survey procedures.
Perform other duties as required in support of construction layout laser scanning or other survey activities including substituting for the PC during his/her absence.
Assures that all survey equipment is in good working order and that instruments are properly transported.
Assist the PC in providing support to both Field Engineering and Field Supervision.
Assist the PC in developing and maintaining survey data.
Performs Calibration Baseline checks of survey instruments.
Supports the administration of the survey work request program.
Assist the PC in providing civil project completion documentation including As-Built records.
Assist in performing verifications of subcontract survey work.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelors degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Multi-Disciplined Field Engineering Survey experience with earthwork excavation concrete structural steel mechanical and piping etc. installation layout and verification.
Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
Knowledge of Bechtels Zero Incidents safety program.
Knowledge of Bechtel quality standards. Must have a solid record of successful project completion with little to zero rework.
Knowledge of construction survey principles.
Demonstrated ability to always maintain a safe work ethic and work environment.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment able to formulate a working relationship with survey team members other departments contractors and survey functional management.
Initiative-taker highly motivated requiring little supervision and able to work on multiple work fronts with excellent problem-solving ability.
Displays effective communications skills crucial to understanding instructions and plans in a clear and concise manner.
Demonstrated experience with Trimble Robotic Total Stations Digital Levels & GNSS survey systems and Access field software.
Knowledge of data downloading.
Intermediate level use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be physically capable to participate in project walkdowns which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site climbing ladders climbing scaffolding walking on elevated platforms walking on uneven surfaces climbing in or maneuvering around small and/or confined spaces and lifting up to 40lbs without assistance.
This project may have multiple work schedules that are subject to change and may require employees to work overtime weekends and/or night shift when a business need arises.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior Bechtel Survey Mega-Project experience.
Working knowledge of Bechtel construction procedures.
CAD literate experience w/CAD software a plus.
Experience with providing survey support for UAV/Drone operations.
Experience with 3D Laser Scanning hardware and software a plus.
Experience with Metrology field & office activities a plus.
Salary Range: annually (salary range is based on market data; final salary offered is determined by education experience and qualifications of the applicant.)
