ROLE OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible to serve as a lead to staff to include assigning and monitoring work and providing direction in performing various construction surveys and layout operations.
Typical schedule is Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM with Saturday as needed. The schedule may vary depending on weather and customer demand.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)
- Determine distances areas and angles of projects.
- Establish reference points for both horizontal and vertical control.
- Set stakes or otherwise marking lines grades and principal points.
- Determine profiles of the ground along given lines (centerlines and/or cross section lines) to provide data for cuts fills and earthwork volumes.
- Layout structures culverts and bridge lines.
- Determine the vertical and horizontal placement of utilities State Highways City Streets and Bridges.
- Record and store all data related to above.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational experience or other relevant job requirements)
- Prior experience working on a construction surveying party.
- Thorough knowledge of residential and commercial construction stakeout procedures and practices.
- Ability to perform all aspects of data collection in field topographic surveys road frontage cross-section surveys and as-built surveys.
- Through knowledge of total station GPS and data collection with the ability to adapt to new equipment and technologies.
- Ability to work outside in all seasons.
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record required.
