Job Description Summary:


Performs high-quality data abstraction and ongoing data collection of surgical patients generating reports analyzing data and assisting with data for research projects.


Job Description:


Essential Functions:

  • Validates and submits surgical data and participates in data audits as needed.
  • Collects data on preoperative intraoperative and postoperative variables for inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Participates in surgical quality improvement efforts and hospital-wide performance improvement teams as assigned collaborating to review results analyze data and prepare reports.
  • Participates in strategy development and ensures compliance with quality tracking processes to meet verification standards.
  • Evaluates the quality and efficiency of care provision throughout the surgical care continuum.

Education Requirement:

BSN required.

Licensure Requirement:

State of Ohio nursing license required.

Certifications:

  • National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) certification within 90 days of hire required.
  • Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) certification within 90 days of hire required.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.

Experience:

  • Two years of experience in a medical surgical or Perioperative setting required.
  • Experience with surgical patients required.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

OCCASIONALLY: Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs Standing Walking

FREQUENTLY: Decision Making Interpreting Data Problem solving

CONTINUOUSLY: Sitting
