Role Overview

The Surgical Technologist performs in the primary scrub role during complex open-heart and general surgical procedures. You will work alongside surgeons RNs and operating room professionals to ensure a sterile safe and highly efficient intraoperative environment.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Scrub Role Execution:Function independently in the primary cardiac scrub role; actively assist surgeons with specialized tasks including central and femoral cannulation.

  • Sterile Field Integrity:Set up surgical instrumentation handle sterile equipment and maintain a constant watch to prevent any breach in sterile technique.

  • Safety & Compliance:Participate in pre-operative briefings time-outs and rigorous sponge needle and instrument counts throughout procedures.

  • Efficiency:Facilitate fast room turnovers perform light housekeeping restock supplies and pull case carts to maintain operational flow.

Required Qualifications
  • Education:Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology.

  • Certification:Valid Surgical Technologist Certificate (CST) required at hire.

  • Life Support:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire.

  • Experience:Minimum of 2 years of full-time current open-heart/cardiovascular experience acting in the primary scrub role.

  • Skills:Mastery of aseptic techniques deep knowledge of OR machinery and the ability to maintain composure during high-stress surgical events.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of scrubbing experience across various surgical specialties in an inpatient/ambulatory O.R. environment.

  • Proven ability to manage sterile core areas reprocess complex instrumentation and handle inventory management.
