Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling a Postoperative Care Unit an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas and a Sterile Processing Department.

Description OR Surgical Technologist:

• Functions as a member of the surgical team under the direction of the registered nurse.

• Performs scrub functions and other roles which support the perioperative plan of care and knowledge of operative procedures.

• Demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes principles of aseptic technique including but not limited to gowning gloving sterilization and disinfection.

• On call weekends weeknights and holidays by rotation.

Requirements OR Surgical Technologist:

• Technical Diploma or associate degree from an accredited Surgical Technology program

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
