What Youll Get to Do
As a Veterinary Surgical & Anesthesia Technician you will play an integral role in patient care surgical preparation anesthesia management monitoring recovery and overall workflow efficiency.
Our surgery technicians are trusted with a wide range of responsibilities including:
  • Prepare patients for surgery including clipping surgical preparation/scrub positioning and appropriate patient identification.
  • Assist with anesthesia induction maintenance monitoring and recovery.
  • Monitor patients closely throughout surgical procedures and promptly communicate abnormalities or changes to the veterinarian.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments equipment and surgical areas.
  • Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures and other medical treatments.
  • Place and maintain intravenous catheters and administer medications and fluids as directed.
  • Collect blood and other diagnostic samples and properly prepare specimens for testing.
  • Perform accurate patient monitoring and maintain thorough medical records.
  • Obtain and properly position patients for diagnostic radiographs.
  • Assist with pre-surgical examinations and patient assessments.
  • Provide appropriate post-operative care and monitoring.
  • Educate clients regarding patient care medications surgical preparation and discharge instructions.
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients regarding their pets care.
  • Maintain a clean organized safe and efficient surgical environment.
  • Assist with other veterinary technician duties as needed to support the team and provide excellent patient care.

What Were Looking For
  • Preferred but not required: CVT graduate from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program OR demonstrated experience working as a veterinary technician.
  • Previous experience with surgical and/or anesthesia procedures is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring surgical preparation patient recovery and veterinary medical terminology.
  • Experience with intravenous catheter placement blood draws diagnostic sample collection and radiographs.
  • A confident dependable team player who is eager to expand their surgical and medical knowledge.
  • Willingness to contribute ideas and provide input based on education knowledge and prior experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume veterinary setting with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and work collaboratively with veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
