Position Summary:
Responsible for the supervision of the housekeeping department ensuring maintenance of equipment and supplies and adequate staffing.
- Functions as supervisor for all housekeeping personnel and directs work activities.
- Participates in and assigns all personnel in Housekeeping duties. Will adjust schedules to accomplish tasks and determine performance of tasks under the supervision of the department manager.
- Under supervision participates in the hiring termination and evaluation of staff based on job performance.
- Schedules shifts vacations etc. of all department personnel ensuring adequate coverage of areas. Coordinates staff relief for meals breaks and meetings.
- Trains and orients personnel in proper procedures and techniques.
- Arranges in-service programs and other educational training for staff.
- Determines supplies needed to perform the jobs orders and maintains supplies and equipment.
- Responsible for the laundry service including the supplies linens and condition of the equipment. Will schedule laundry process to ensure adequate supplies for all patient needs.
- Will evaluate public areas and restrooms for cleanliness on a timely basis.
- Local travel required.
- Follows policies procedures and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education:
None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience:
Two (2) years of housekeeping and/or supervisory experience required.
Licensure Requirement:
Employee must have a valid Tennessee drivers license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
