The Suppression Service Technician is responsible for assisting with the installation inspection testing commissioning and maintenance of pre-engineered fire suppression systems (e.g. kitchen hood and small hazard systems) in commercial environments under direct supervision. This entry-level role focuses on building foundational technical knowledge safety awareness and familiarity with system components while contributing to efficient job site operations and team productivity. The technician will support senior team members in completing installation tasks while learning basic industry practices tools and safety procedures.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with installation of piping tubing nozzles detection lines and releasing components for pre-engineered systems.
Support inspection testing and maintenance (ITM) per NFPA 17/17A/96 and manufacturer requirements.
Assist with system functional tests and commissioning checks.
Observe and learn system layouts component functions and discharge sequences.
Assist in identifying visible deficiencies and documenting findings.
Prepare tools parts and job sites for efficient execution.
Maintain tools equipment and service vehicles in safe working condition.
Maintain a clean and safe workspace; follow PPE and site requirements.
Respond to service calls as directed.
Use of hand tools and testing equipment.
Travel to job sites as required.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Education/Qualification:
High school diploma or equivalent.
No prior experience required.
Must have a clean driving record and active drivers license if driving role.
Ability to follow instructions and work under direct supervision.
Basic mechanical aptitude preferred.
Must have a clean driving record and active drivers license (if driving is required).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting climbing ladders and working in various environments.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Work performed in commercial industrial and construction environments.
Exposure to varying conditions including heights confined spaces and active job sites.
Ability to stand walk bend and work for extended periods.
Other Duties:
Adheres to Pye-Barker Fire & Safety policies safety standards and code of conduct.
Pay:
$23/hr - $29/hr (Depending on Experience)
