Job Summary

This 11-week internship provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting financial reporting tax controls and audit within a global financial services organization. As part of John Hancock the U.S. division of Manulife Financial Corporation interns contribute to meaningful work that supports key business decisions and regulatory requirements. Students will develop technical skills expand their professional network and gain valuable exposure to a complex dynamic financial services organization while preparing for future CPA and finance careers.As part of our internship program you will gain early access to Manulife John Hancocks premier early talent program GRO tailored to graduating students! Position Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to quarterly and annual reporting processes including GAAP Statutory and IFRS deliverables.

  • Support management reporting financial analysis and preparation of external disclosures such as press releases and Managements Discussion & Analysis.

  • Assist with tax provision and returns across the John Hancock complex.

  • Partner with the Controls Center of Excellence to enhance risk assessments key controls and governance processes.

  • Participate in internal audit activities to assess the design and effectiveness of governance risk and controls.

  • Engage in process improvement and automation initiatives within Wealth and Asset Management Accounting & Reporting.

  • Participate in professional development events networking opportunities and community volunteer activities throughout the program.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.

  • Strong academic performance: commitment to CPA certification post-graduation preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word PowerPoint).

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior internship co-op or work experience in finance accounting or a related field.

  • Knowledge of financial reporting standards (GAAP IFRS Statutory).

  • Familiarity with audit or risk management practices.

  • Demonstrated initiative and leadership through campus involvement or prior roles.

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build relationships across teams.

Please note the salary range is expected to be between $39000 USD to $50700 USD.

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge skills qualifications experience and education/training. The annual salary will be pro-rated based on the length of the work-term.
