Summer Custodian Seasonal

Job Summary:

The summer custodian will seasonally support custodial operations throughout the Westerly Public School District during the summer months of July and August. This position assists with summer cleaning facility maintenance grounds upkeep and special projects in preparation for the upcoming school year as well as support for summer programs and custodian will help ensure all school facilities and grounds are safe clean and well-maintained providing an attractive and functional environment for students staff and community members.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain district buildings in a clean safe and sanitary condition including classrooms corridors stairwells and restrooms.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables.
• Set up and break down furniture and equipment for school activities and events.
• Perform minor preventive maintenance inside buildings as directed.
• Assist with grounds maintenance including snow and ice removal.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
• 1 year in a custodial capacity in the private or public sector or maintenance worker in a school system preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of the materials methods implements and devices used in cleaning operations and the care of custodial equipment preferred.
• Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalentpreferred but not required.
• Physical Requirements:
• Lifting and carrying up to seventy five (75) pounds to perform moderately heavy manual labor.
• Bending stooping reaching above shoulder level and climbing and descending stairs and ladders.
