Job Summary

Instructional Assistant 2026 Summer Learning Program

Forest Grove School District is seeking dedicated collaborative and student-centered Instructional Assistants to support the implementation of the 2026 Summer Learning Program. Instructional Assistants will work under the guidance of licensed teachers to provide high-quality instruction foster student engagement and ensure a supportive learning environment.

This temporary position requires a passion for student success flexibility and the ability to implement instructional interventions in a fast-paced collaborative setting.

The Summer Learning Program is designed to:

  • Strengthen literacy instruction and intervention practices.
  • Support student engagement through meaningful discourse and collaboration.
  • Provide hands-on science learning opportunities.
  • Increase teacher and staff capacity through embedded professional learning.
  • Create supportive and inclusive classroom environments for all students.

Note: Professional learning for instructional staff will occur daily from 12:45 PM 2:30 PM using a collaborative learning lab approach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide small group and one-on-one instructional interventions in literacy and science.
  • Assist the lead teacher in maintaining a positive safe and engaging classroom culture.
  • Facilitate meaningful student discourse and collaborative learning activities.
  • Prepare and organize instructional materials hands-on science kits and classroom resources.
  • Assist in monitoring student progress and collecting data to inform instructional shifts.
  • Actively participate in daily collaborative learning labs (12:45 PM 2:30 PM) to build instructional capacity.
  • Support student safety during transitions arrivals departures and meal times.
  • Work closely with teachers coordinators and other support staff to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records and information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with school-aged children in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Ability to follow instructional plans and implement feedback in real-time.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an instructional team.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience as an Instructional Assistant or Paraprofessional.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred
  • Experience with literacy intervention strategies or hands-on science curriculum.
  • Completion of district-required paraprofessional assessments or college coursework in education.
Work Schedule
  • Staff Training/Prep Begins: June 18 2026.
  • Summer Learning Program: June 22 2026 July 16 2026.
  • Weekly Schedule: Monday through Thursday (No Fridays).
Compensation

Instructional Assistant hourly rate Level I Grade 5

Nature of Position

This is a temporary summer assignment and does not constitute permanent employment beyond the Summer Learning Program dates.
