What Youll Do:
Audit Responsibilities:
- Assist on audit engagements across multiple industries including forâprofit nonprofit and ERISA/benefit plan clients
- Perform audit testing procedures such as:
- Participant data testing and contribution testing (ERISA/401(k))
- Cash testing payroll testing investment testing and analytical procedures
- Substantive testing rollforwards and compliance testing
- Help prepare and update audit documentation and workpapers often referencing priorâyear files
- Gain exposure to onâsite audit work including interacting with client personnel and observing audit procedures in real time
- Use audit software and tools such as CaseWare XCM ShareFile client portals and Excel
- Learn how audit teams plan execute and review engagements from start to finish
Tax Responsibilities:
- Prepare and assist with individual and business tax returns including:
- Forms S 1041 and gift tax returns
- Work on GSC (grouped) returns gaining repetition and confidence across similar but nonâidentical clients
- Input and reconcile Kâ1s trial balances fixed assets and adjusting journal entries
- Assist with bookâtoâtax reconciliations diagnostics and clearing review points
- Support firstâyear and newâclient returns learning how information flows when no priorâyear data exists
- Use tax software such as CCH Axcess SurePrep Fixed Assets and related tools
- Conduct basic tax research and assist with internal or external tax blog content on current tax topics
What Youll Bring:
- Completion of at least one semester of an intermediate-level accounting class
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Word and other computer skills
- Interest in pursuing a career in public accounting and sitting for the CPA exam
Pay:
- The anticipated hiring range for this position is $30.00-$32.50 and is dependent on relevant experience qualifications and skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in accounting or accounting systems
- Have completed at least one semester of intermediate accounting
- Detail-oriented enthusiastic and collaborative mindset
- Growth-oriented entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to make an impact
Core Skills Youll Build:
- Apply classroom accounting concepts to real client work
- Develop strong Excel skills including data cleanup analysis and review
- Learn how to self-review work respond to review notes and improve accuracy
- Communicate professionally with associates seniors managers and partners
- Manage time across multiple engagements and deadlines
- Gain confidence asking questions seeking feedback and taking initiative to find work
Training & Support:
- Participate in formal training weeks before each rotation (Audit and Tax)
- Work closely with a Performance Coach and a Buddy
- Receive real-time feedback review notes and direct verbal feedback throughout the internship
- Learn how to navigate firm systems workflows and professional expectations
Internship Overview:
- Schedule: Monday Thursdays with Fridays off
- Format: In-person hybrid and virtual options -person experience is strongly encouraged
- Returning Interns: May specialize in either Tax or Audit based on prior experience
- Exposure to real client work not just shadowing
- Opportunity to rotate between Audit and Tax
- Hands-on experience using the same tools and processes as full-time staff
- Participate in firm events networking opportunities and intern group activities
