Substitute Teacher 26-27

Pleasant Valley Community School District is currently hiring substitute teachers for the2026-2027school year.

To substitute teach in the State of Iowa you must hold a current Iowa Teaching License Iowa Substitute Teaching License or Iowa Substitute Authorization License.

QUALIFICATIONS: Holds an Iowa teaching certificate meets the requirements of certification or holds a Substitute Teaching certificate or a Substitute Authorization certificate issued by the State of Iowa.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB GOAL: To enable each child to pursuetheir education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of their regular teacher.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Review with the principal or department head all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
2. Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned.
3. Teaches the lessons outlined and described in the teachers lesson plans.
4. Consults with the building principal before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the teachers lesson plans.
5. Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class.
6. Reports in writing on the form provided by the school administrative assistant on the days activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
7. Verifies with the school administrative assistant that his/her attendance will or will not be required on the following teaching day.
8. Follows all policies rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Per diem at rates currently established by the Board.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium Work - lifting carrying pushing pulling 20-50 lbs. occasionally 10-25 lbs. frequently or up to 10 lbs. constantly. Stooping and kneeling occasionally. Reaching talking and hearing frequently. Must be able to remain mobile throughout the work day.
