Job Summary

Position Summary:

Under the direction and supervision of the building principal or the classroom teacher this position may provide assistance to students and/or staff. A substitute paraeducator may also perform a variety of office tasks in support of teachers and other district staff. The position is expected to promote positive public relations for the district.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Provide assistance to the teacher in the classroom as include hallway lunchroom and playground supervision.
  • Ability to relate and work with children.
  • Work cooperatively with building staff students and parents/guardians.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to use a computer and apply technology skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and perform duties and tasks as assigned.
  • May be required to assist with toileting and diapering.
  • Ability to lift and support students.
  • Ability to organize time and maintain a schedule.
  • Comply with all district policies building procedures and schedules.
  • Possess a positive attitude that each student can learn and has the right and capacity to achieve personal academic excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by building administrator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalentand
  • AA degree or 72 college creditsorpass the ETS ParaPro Assessment (administered by the Aberdeen School District).
  • Ability to pass a WSP/FBI fingerprint criminal background clearance (applicants expense)
  • Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred
