Position Summary:
This position acts as a Spanish translator between the school and parents/ position may also perform a variety of routine clerical and office tasks in support of teachers and other district staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as bilingualinterpreter (possibly in a variety of languages depending on the need). Facilitate effective communication between students their families and the schools during conferences meetings and other activities.
Attend trainings as needed.
Work flexible hours based onneeds of students and their families which may include evening activities.
May assist teachers and/or other educational staff in conducting home visits.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Fluency in Spanish or other various language(s) both spoken and written required.
Knowledge of correct grammar spelling and English usage.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students parents staff and community service providers.
Desired personal characteristics including flexibility enthusiasm and compassion.
Experience working with families with low socioeconomic status.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
FBI and Washington State Patrol background clearance required.
May be required to complete training in First Aid and CPR as required by the District.
Washington State Drivers License with a good driving record.
Access to reliable transportation.
