Job Summary

MAINTENANCE III-GROUNDS-Perform all activities involved in the preservation and care of the grounds athletic fields playgrounds walks drivesand parking areas as well as debris removal and equipment maintenance to a high standard set by the Moses Lake School District.

Qualifications

  1. Must possess a valid Washington State Drivers license.
  2. Must be able to read and write the English language and be able to follow basic oral and written directions.
  3. Prefer two years of vocational training or specific course completion in grounds maintenance or equivalent experience (i.e. one year job experience may be equal to one year of formal training).
  4. Prefer two years experience working in grounds maintenance in addition to #3 above.
  5. Must be able to work flexible hours including swing shift and weekends when assigned.
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable.
Abilities
  1. Must be able to manipulate/use hand and power tools.
  2. Must be able to read/interpret measuring and metering devices.
  3. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints schematics specifications and operating instructions.
  4. Must be able to read and complete work orders.

Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Mow lawn areas sports fields and other areas.
  2. Trim walks curbs and remove vegetation from fence lines.
  3. Tree and shrub pruning/shearing edging and mulching of beds.
  4. Tree shrub perennial or annual installation including construction or creation of new plant beds.
  5. Policing of grounds spring and fall cleanup (leaf removal).

General Duties

  1. Develops and employs team attitude along with Maintenance and Custodial staff regarding special projects or assignments; coordinates grounds work with other crafts within Facilities Maintenance.
  2. Perform maintenance inspections and repairs to turf/grounds maintenance equipment.
  3. Maintains working knowledge of new equipment materials and procedures through ongoing training.
  4. Complies with work methods equipment and procedures to assure health and safety standards and precautions are in accordance with OSHA requirements.
  5. Assists with analyzing and recommending changes for methods equipment and plantings.
  6. May conduct routine inspections of playgrounds to ensure that Consumer Product Safety Commission recommendations are met or exceeded.
  7. Maintains high standard must be neat clean and always in proper dress including footwear and safety gear.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Environmental Conditions

  1. Able to work in a wide variety of weather conditions.
  2. Able to work in a variety of temperature conditions.
  3. Able to work in a variety of situations including but not limited to noise/vibration toxic conditions unique hazards.

Work Schedule

  1. Able to work a normal schedule of 40 hours per week 8 hours per day 5 days per week; exact schedules are assignedby management.
  2. Must have good attendance and be punctual.
  3. Must be able to work flexible hours including swing shift overtime and weekends when assigned.
