Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office (after employmentoffer is made). Complete state-required physical examination for Bus Drivers(after employment offer is made).
Valid CDL license with required endorsements.
Meet all State requirements for Bus Drivers including Defensie Driving CPR and First Aid Certification
At least one year experience in driving some type of motor vehicle (which may be a private automobile) including experience throughout each of the four seasons.
Successfully complete behind-the-wheel training.
Desire to continue career improvements by enhance skills and job performance.
Essential Functions:
Ability to provide clean safe and reliable transportation to ensure studentsbenefit from District programs and activities
Ability to ensure all activities conform to State school transportation guidelines
Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members ofthe school district and the community.
Ability to react to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positivemanner meeting deadlines as assigned.
Ability to operate all vehicles and equipment as necessary.
Ability to implement and follow the vision and mission of the District.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
Requires prolonged sitting.
Requires turning and reaching.
Requires driving skills including ability to operate vehicle at night.
Must work indoors and outdoors during the school year.
Must work in noisy crowded stressful environments with numerousinterruptions.
Must work in and around dust fumes and odors.
General Responsibilities:
Ability to implement and follow all Kansas school transportation regulations.
Ability to implement all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
Ability to maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
Ability to report those students who do not obey rules to the proper authority.
Ability to keep assigned bus clean.
Ability to keep to assigned schedule.
Ability to check bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
Ability to notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
Ability to discharge students only at authorized stops.
Ability to exercise responsible leadership and good judgment when on out-ofDistrict school trips.
Transport only authorized students.
Ability to report all accidents and complete required reports.
Ability to enforce regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
Ability to observe and follow all school district policies at all times.
Ability to respond to information requests in a cooperative courteous and timely manner.
Ability to implement and follow all District health and safety policies includingall precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by theDirector of Transportation.
