Substation Foreman

Elliot is a full-service electrical contractor specializing in overhead and underground distribution transmission substations lighting traffic signaling utility locating and industrial/commercial services.

Job Description

We are seeking experienced Substation Foremen to join our construction team. This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating all field activities related to Substation construction. This position ensures work is performed safely efficiently and in accordance with Elliot policies and procedures project specifications drawings and schedules. The Foreman leads crews coordinates with other trades and maintains high standards of safety quality and productivity. As part of the day-to-day responsibilities you will be completing the following:

• Supervise and lead substation crews in daily operations.
• Plan schedule and coordinate substation activities.
• Interpret construction drawings specifications and project plans.
• Oversee installation of:
• Structural steel (equipment supports bus structures)
• Foundations and grounding systems
• Conduit cable trench and duct bank systems
• Bus work and rigid/flexible bus installation
• Equipment setting (transformers breakers switches control cabinets)
• Coordinate with project superintendent project manager and other trades.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations company policies and OSHA requirements.
• Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce safe work practices.
• Monitor productivity and crew performance.
• Ensure proper use care and maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Maintain quality control to ensure work meets project specifications.
• Assist in planning manpower equipment and material needs.
• Complete daily reports time sheets and documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-10 years of substation construction experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory or foreman role.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Substation construction practices and sequencing
• High-voltage electrical systems and components
• Structural civil and electrical installation methods
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of construction safety standards.
• Ability to operate construction equipment as needed.
• Valid drivers license
• Own your own hand tools
• Must be able to learn from On-the-Job training and work well with others
• Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screening
