Substance Abuse Counselor (Monroe, VA) – Youth Residential Program

PsyPhyCare a division of Business Staffing of America Inc. is seeking a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or other qualified substance abuse professional meeting state requirements to provide on-site substance abuse prevention education and counseling services within a federally supported residential youth program in Monroe Virginia 24574.

Our client operates a comprehensive residential program serving young adults ages 1624. The programs mission is to prepare participants for meaningful employment and independent living through education career development healthcare and supportive services.

This role provides direct substance abuse prevention and intervention services while collaborating closely with residential and program staff in a structured community-based environment.

This is a contract position with full-time availability. Multiple part-time clinicians may also be considered.

• Schedule: MondayFriday
• Hours: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
• No weekends required
• Location: On-site in Monroe VA (no telehealth or remote option)

Scheduling flexibility is available to support student engagement and program needs including occasional presence during afternoon or early evening hours.

The counselor will provide comprehensive on-site substance abuse prevention and counseling services while maintaining an active presence throughout the residential campus.

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting substance use assessments and screenings
• Providing individual and group substance abuse counseling
• Developing and facilitating alcohol tobacco and other drug prevention education programs
• Creating individualized treatment and intervention plans
• Engaging with students in residential and common areas (dormitories recreation areas dining facilities counseling spaces)
• Collaborating with medical providers mental health professionals residential staff and program leadership
• Providing consultation and support to staff regarding substance abuse prevention and student wellness
• Supporting crisis intervention and student success initiatives as needed
• Maintaining accurate timely and confidential clinical documentation
• Upholding all professional ethical and confidentiality standards

Candidates must meet Virginia requirements for providing substance abuse counseling and possess one of the following:

• Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC)
• Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) if applicable
• Or another credential meeting the programs substance abuse counseling requirements

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing substance abuse counseling or prevention services preferred
• Experience working with adolescents or young adults is preferred
• Strong counseling documentation and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
