Job Summary

Job Description:

The Student Services Assistant supports school administration in promoting a safe positive and supportive learning environment. This position assists with student supervision behavior support social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives attendance and engagement efforts and transportation operations. The Student Services Assistant works closely with students staff families and transportation personnel to help remove barriers to student success and ensure the smooth operation of daily school activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Transportation Support

  • Monitor student arrival and dismissal procedures.
  • Supervise bus loading and unloading to ensure student safety.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school transportation department and bus drivers.
  • Address transportation concerns and assist with resolving bus-related issues.
  • Maintain records related to transportation incidents and student transportation needs.

Student Behavior & Discipline Support

  • Assist administrators with monitoring student behavior throughout the school day.
  • Support implementation of school-wide behavior expectations and intervention plans.
  • Supervise students during transitions lunch arrival dismissal and other assigned areas.
  • Assist with restorative practices conflict resolution and behavior reflection activities.
  • Document student incidents and maintain accurate records as directed by administration.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Support

  • Facilitate SEL activities and small-group student support sessions under administrator or counselor direction.
  • Build positive relationships with students and encourage appropriate social and emotional skills.
  • Assist with student check-ins mentoring and goal-setting activities.
  • Support implementation of school-wide SEL programs and initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with crisis response and student de-escalation strategies.
  • Support attendance interventions and student engagement efforts.
  • Participate in professional development related to behavior support SEL and student supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


Completion of an Associates Degree OR have at least 48 semester hours of college credits OR completion of a formal assessment (Workeys) with acceptable scores in reading writing and math AND 96 hours of in-service training/professional development.
