Job Summary

55% Social Media Content & Campaign Management
  • Write develop and brainstorm social media content for the School of Pharmacy.
  • Create manage and evaluate social media campaigns across platforms.
  • Design on-brand graphics and curate content highlighting School of Pharmacy departments programs students faculty staff and events.
  • Monitor School of Pharmacy activities and identify opportunities for timely and engaging content.
  • Assist with community management social media strategy analytics and reporting.
20% Content Development & Storytelling10% - Research Communications
  • Assist with the development of blog posts website content newsletters feature stories and other strategic communications materials.
  • Research topics interview sources and gather information for communications projects.
  • Pitch story ideas and contribute to communications team planning discussions.
10% Research Communications
  • Learn the principles and best practices of research communications.
  • Assist with identifying translating and promoting research accomplishments for internal and external audiences.
  • Support communications efforts that highlight faculty research grants publications and scholarly impact.
5% Event Marketing & Logistics Support
  • Provide marketing and promotional support for School of Pharmacy events and initiatives.
  • Assist with event-related communications social media coverage and logistical coordination as assigned.
5% Editing & Proofreading
  • Review and proofread communications and marketing materials for accuracy clarity consistency and adherence to brand standards.
  • Assist with quality assurance efforts across communications projects.
5% Other Communications Duties
  • Perform other communications marketing and administrative duties as assigned in support of the School of Pharmacys strategic goals.

Position Overview
The School of Pharmacy is seeking a creative organized individual to help tell the story of the school through our social media platforms and other digital and print channels. As a Digital Communications Assistant you will play a vital role in the day-to-day creation posting and planning of social media campaigns and activities. You will help strengthen engagement with current and prospective students connect with key campus audiences and support the schools overall marketing and communications strategy.
You will also play an important creative role by developing ideas for fun engaging social media campaigns that resonate with fellow students. This fast-paced position involves a mix of writing social media content and capture photographs and video on the fly.
You will collaborate closely with the Manager of Communications and gain hands-on marketable experience in a dynamic marketing and communications office while playing a creative role in promoting the University of Kansas.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
