Job Summary

Summary

The Student Accounts Representative works directly within the Office of Student Financial Services on all aspects of cash management billing receivables and reconciliation as well as departmental planning with an emphasis on communication and customer service under the general supervision of the Student Accounts Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operations:

  • Process daily Student Accounts functions including cash management deposits journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Monitor student accounts receivable (AR) activity
  • Assist with direct deposit processing and account maintenance
  • Assist with Monthly/quarterly reconciliation.
  • Support invoicing and follow-up for scholarships VA benefits Military National Health Service Corps. (NHSC) Vocational Rehabilitation reserve accounts and 529 plans
  • Assist students and authorized third parties with billing questions
  • Collaborate with campus departments on financial matters
  • Support monthly and quarterly reconciliation processes
  • Administrator the Brinks 24Seven and check scanner processes.
  • Assist students and authorized third parties with Student Account issues billing and questions.
  • Communicate with campus Departments (i.e. Student Services Business Office) on fiscal issues.
  • Assist with monthly/quarterly reconciliation (i.e. Business Office)
  • Complete and analyze management reports as required.
  • Assist Student Accounts Supervisor on various projects as assigned.

Planning:

  • Pro-actively identify risks and roadblocks that need to be addressed; identify and detail creative solutions along with preliminary recommendations to minimize the impact of these potential problems.
  • Actively participate in the annual planning process to improve operations and advance departmental objectives.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the Student Accounts policy and procedure manuals.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the Student Accounts CARS tables

Other Duties:

  • Assist Student Accounts Manager or Director of Student Financial Services on various projects as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple financial processes while delivering excellent customer service. Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree in Management/Accounting or related field preferred. Must have 3-5 years working in an accounting accounts receivable financial aid student accounts or business/financial office role preferable at a graduate institution. Previous experience with account reconciliations and journal entries is preferred.

Computer Skills

Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; Outlook Word and Excel required.

Language Skills

Intermediate skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students spouses parents and employees of MWU.

Reasoning Ability

Intermediate skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Mathematical Ability

Intermediate skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interests commissions and proportions percentages area.
