Position Description
The Structural Engineer PE at Cushing Terrell is an on-site leadership position based in our Boise Idaho office with reasonable flexibility for occasional project site visits. What does this role involve day to day This role provides technical leadership for structural design and delivery while helping establish a stronger Boise structural presence leading design direction reviewing and sealing work as a licensed PE coordinating directly with architecture MEP and civil teams and project managers mentoring Staff and Project Engineers and owning proposals and client relationships across our retail healthcare commercial education government living and infrastructure markets.
What will I create You will lead technical direction on selected projects review and improve calculations and drawings across the team develop fee proposals and client relationships and help build consistent workflows and quality standards for a growing Boise practice.
What does success look like year one By year one you will be a credible technical leader for the Boise team improving project quality mentoring engineers owning client relationships and proposal development strengthening CT standards locally and helping build momentum for the Boise structural practice.
Position Salary Range
The expected salary range for this position is $92000 to $112000 annually.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Ability to work with RAM Structural System RISA ETABS SAP2000 Enercalc TEDDS Bluebeam and Revit and BIM coordination
- Proven building structural design leadership across gravity and lateral systems
- Ability to lead coordination with architecture MEP and civil teams and project managers
- Strong QA/QC discipline ability to review and coach others calculations and drawings and time management to balance multiple project demands
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to mentor communicate clearly and build trust
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Bluebeam Microsoft Excel Microsoft Word and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
- SE license or advanced seismic and lateral design depth
- Idaho PE or ability to obtain by comity
- Experience helping grow a team office or local market presence
- Prior experience developing fee proposals and managing client accounts
- Local Boise or Idaho relationships and regional code knowledge

Position Responsibilities
- Lead structural design and analysis for gravity and lateral force-resisting systems across steel concrete wood and masonry construction on selected projects
- Review and where licensure allows seal structural calculations and drawings
- Coordinate directly with architecture MEP and civil teams and project managers
- Mentor Staff and Project Engineers to raise team-wide technical quality
- Resolve complex technical and construction administration issues
- Develop structural fee proposals and contracts and build and maintain client relationships
- Help establish consistent workflows and quality standards for the Boise structural practice

*Actual pay will be determined based on the candidates years of experience licensure status location level of proficiency and other job-related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
