Your Impact

As a Store Operations Industrial Engineering Intern at Lowes youll work with the Store Labor Engineering team on projects that support workforce management store productivity and a simple and seamless customer experience. Youll gain hands-on experience conducting in-store time studies analyzing workload requirements identifying process improvement opportunities and developing engineered labor standards that help stores effectively manage labor costs while maintaining customer service standards.

This role is ideal for students who are passionate about using industrial engineering data analysis and process improvement to solve real-world retail challenges.

What You Will Learn

How store workforce management and labor productivity support Lowes strategy and the customer experience.

How to gather and analyze workload requirements for store tasks and activities through in-store time studies.

Analytical techniques used to translate time-study data into engineered labor standards.

How to identify quantify and communicate opportunities to improve productivity eliminate waste and enhance store processes.

How to evaluate alternative approaches to labor optimization while balancing labor costs and customer service standards.

How to translate large data sets and labor analysis into clear recommendations and compelling presentations for senior leadership.

How industrial engineers collaborate share experiences and apply process-improvement principles within a large retail environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.

Expected graduation dates of December 2027 or May 2028.

Preferred Skills/Experience

3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.

Proficient in MS Office Programs (specifically Word Excel and PowerPoint).

One to two years of prior experience working in a retail environment.

Strong collaborative troubleshooting problem-solving communication data analysis and presentation skills.

Ability to consider human behavior and interactions with environmental and work-area conditions when developing processes.

Strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills.

Accuracy and attention to detail with strong analytical data collection and reporting skills.

Experience developing engineered labor standards.

Relevant internship experience and/or other related work experience such as a leadership role in student or campus organizations volunteering or similar activities.
