Job Summary
Southend Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterilization Associate to support our compounding operations by ensuring reusable equipment glassware utensils and production materials are properly cleaned sanitized sterilized inspected and prepared for use. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a clean organized and compliant pharmacy environment while supporting both sterile and nonsterile compounding activities. Your attention to detail commitment to quality and adherence to USP standards will directly contribute to patient safety operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Please note that this shift schedule is Monday through Friday however hours may be adjusted based on business needs and flexibility in availability is expected to support operational demands.
Key Responsibilities
Clean wash inspect and prepare glassware stainless steel utensils compounding equipment and reusable materials
Operate dishwashers glassware washers autoclaves and other sterilization equipment according to established procedures
Prepare equipment and materials for sterilization packaging labeling storage and production use
Monitor sterilization cycles and maintain accurate documentation and sterilization logs
Stage clean and sterilized equipment and materials to support daily production schedules
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies sterilization materials and consumables
Assist with assembling compounding kits utensils and production materials
Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout production laboratory storage and support areas
Follow all applicable SOPs USP <795> USP <797> USP <800> and company quality standards
Support internal audits inspections investigations and quality initiatives
Report equipment malfunctions safety concerns or quality issues promptly
Dispose of waste materials according to established company procedures
What We Require
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to follow written procedures and maintain accurate documentation
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Basic computer skills for documentation and recordkeeping
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods
Ability to wear required PPE including gloves gowns masks and eye protection
Preferred Requirements
Associate degree or technical training in science healthcare manufacturing or a related field
Previous experience in a pharmacy laboratory manufacturing healthcare food production or sterile processing environment
Experience operating autoclaves or sterilization equipment
Familiarity with USP <795> USP <797> and USP <800> standards
Experience supporting quality systems inspections or regulated environments
