Job Summary
Do you enjoy helping kids ask big questions try new ideas and discover how fun learning can be Join the La Crosse Area Family YMCA as a STEM Coach and bring science technology engineering and math to life for youth through hands-on activities creative problem-solving and encouraging mentorship. This part-time role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with young people building confidence and making learning feel exciting welcoming and accessible.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead engaging STEM activities that encourage curiosity creativity teamwork and problem-solving.
- Create a fun inclusive and learning environment where every participant feels welcome and supported.
- Help youth build confidence as they explore science technology engineering math and real-world applications.
- Prepare materials set up activities and keep program spaces organized clean and ready for learning.
This is a part-time role supporting YMCA youth STEM programming in La Crosse and Onalaska. Schedule may vary based on program needs school-year programming special events and seasonal opportunities.
Requirements
- Interest in STEM education youth development hands-on learning or related programming.
- Experience working with youth in a school camp childcare after-school recreation mentoring or similar setting preferred.
- Ability to lead activities give clear instructions and adapt lessons for different ages abilities and learning styles.
- Positive patient dependable and encouraging approach with youth and families.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a supportive team.
- Ability to respond to common questions or concerns from participants members staff administration and the general public.
