General ThermoDynamics an API Heat Transfer Company is seeking a skilled Steel Welder to join our Copper Brass Production team. This role is responsible for welding and fabricating carbon steel components used in the manufacture of industrial heat exchangers serving critical industries worldwide.
We are looking for individuals who take pride in producing high-quality work maintaining safe work practices and contributing to a team-focused manufacturing environment.
- Perform MIG TIG Flux Core and/or Stick welding on carbon steel components and assemblies.
- Interpret engineering drawings blueprints weld symbols and work instructions.
- Prepare materials through grinding fitting aligning and positioning prior to welding.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Perform weld repairs as needed.
- Safely operate overhead cranes lifting devices and production equipment.
- Accurately complete production and quality documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that drive safety quality and productivity.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols.
- Strong measuring and layout skills.
- Ability to use hand tools grinders and fabrication equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Prior experience in heat exchanger pressure vessel or heavy industrial manufacturing.
- AWS welding certifications.
- Experience operating overhead cranes.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
- Ability to stand walk bend and lift throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat noise welding fumes and moving equipment.
- Ability to wear required PPE including welding helmet gloves safety glasses hearing protection and steel-toed footwear.
