Stationary Engineer Apprentice

Melwood is seeking a reliable and motivated Stationary Engineer Apprentice to join our Engineering/Facilities team. The selected candidate will work under the direction of experienced Stationary Engineers and maintenance personnel while gaining practical hands-on experience in the operation inspection maintenance and repair of building mechanical systems.

Hours: M-F 8am -5pm

Pay rate: $22 -30 (Semi-annual raises including)

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Stationary Engineer Apprentice will assist with:
â Monitoring and operating building mechanical systems and equipment.
â Assisting with the operation and maintenance of boilers chillers HVAC systems air-handling units pumps compressors and generators.
â Performing routine inspections and documenting equipment conditions.
â Assisting with preventative maintenance and scheduled maintenance activities.
â Responding to building maintenance requests and assisting with troubleshooting equipment issues.
â Checking gauges meters controls and other equipment indicators and reporting abnormal readings or conditions.
â Assisting with maintaining proper building temperatures and environmental conditions.
â Performing basic mechanical plumbing electrical and general maintenance tasks under supervision.
â Maintaining maintenance logs inspection records and work orders as required.
â Keeping mechanical rooms equipment areas and workspaces clean and organized.
â Following all applicable safety procedures and using tools and equipment appropriately.
â Immediately reporting equipment malfunctions unsafe conditions or other concerns to the supervisor.
â Assisting experienced engineers with repairs adjustments and other assigned engineering tasks.
â Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
â High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
â Interest in stationary engineering HVAC mechanical systems building operations or facilities maintenance.
â Willingness to learn through hands-on training and instruction.
â Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
â Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors coworkers contractors and building personnel.
â Dependable punctual and willing to take direction.
â Ability to follow established safety procedures and workplace policies.

Training Opportunity:
The apprentice will receive on-the-job training and work alongside experienced engineering personnel to develop knowledge and skills related to building systems preventative maintenance equipment operation troubleshooting and general facilities operations.
