Primary Function: The State Preschool Permit Teacher will provide instruction to students in the State Preschool Program under the direction of the Director of State Preschool Programs or Designee and serves as the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Instructor to individuals and/or small groups of preschool age pupils; provides age and developmentally appropriate early childhood education and experiences; provides for the childs cognitive social physical and emotional development; interacts closely with families and the community in establishing and achieving appropriate developmental goals for the pupil(s) and preparing students for kindergarten readiness skills.
Plans organizes and implements age-appropriate learning and recreational activities which meet the individual and developmental needs of the child based on their DRDPs. Modifies curriculum and activities for inclusion (SPED) students to meet individual needs. For example will use the Desire Result Developmental Profile (DROP) to meet the individual and developmental needs of each childs identified needs.
Confers with parents and other staff members for the purpose of assisting in evaluation of students progress and/or implementing of students objectives using District and State measures (i.e. DROP)
Maintains classroom equipment students files records etc. for the purpose of ensuring availability of items as may be required.
Monitors/ provides direction and guidance to State Preschool Staff volunteers and the individual students for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. Keeps abreast of current innovative educational practices and curriculum trends related to preschool education.
Maintains compliance with state licensing Quality Matters and district regulations.
Implements necessary changes to remain in compliance with various agencies regulations and/or legal mandates.
Participates in various meetings and events (i.e. Sneak-A-Peek Back to School Night Open House parent conferences two times a year etc.) for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving ones skills/knowledge by providing parents with training opportunities.
Assists and maintains confidentiality in the implementation of Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals as applicable as well as attends required student meetings (such as IEPs SSTs etc.) Expected to collaborate with service providers as needed in order to meet individual student needs.
Performs recordkeeping scheduling and instructional support for the purpose of maintain student files and providing classroom materials.
Provides toileting and other individual student supports based on identified individual student needs.
Administers testing and assessments for the purpose of evaluating and communicating student progress as required by the State Preschool Program.
Assists other personnel as may be required.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent completion of required coursework for a teacher/ child development teacher permit including 24 semester units of early childhood education or child development coursework and 16 semester units in general education coursework . Additionally prior job related experience paid or volunteer with preschool age children with satisfactory job performance or evaluation is required. Knowledge of current trends and research concerning child growth and developmental instructional and behavioral needs of addition the ability and skills to provide a wide range of creative activities and experiences for children of diverse backgrounds is preferred. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Skills Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Must have skills to perform basic clerical functions basic arithmetic calculations operate standard office equipment use English in verbal and written form and use correct grammar punctuation and spelling. Must have knowledge of principles of child development and instructional addition candidate must have the ability to sit and stoop for prolonged periods understand and carry out oral and written instructions maintain confidentiality of student records meet schedules and deadlines read/interpreUapply rules regulations policies and rapidly learn methods and materials used in a variety of instructional situations. Licenses Certifications: Possess or is quaHfied to possess a valid Child Development Teacher Permit and is required to perform the mandated professional development hours to maintain the Child Development Teacher addition must have Criminal justice fingerprint clearance and drivers license. ADA Requirements: Must have the ability to sit stand walk lift objects approximately 20 lbs. (books binders files) push pull drag and grasp objects.
