Stamford High School: Creativity Activity and Service (C.A.S.) Supervisor

General Statement:
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) students must successfully complete a required extra-curricular element known as Creativity Activity and Service (C.A.S.). C.A.S. requires students to engage in experiences consistently over their 18 months spent in the programme. These experiences must be based in creativity physical activity and/or each experience students set personal goals log reflections and provide evidence in their online journal with the ultimate goal of accomplishing seven specific learner outcomes enabling them to develop in the IB Learner Profile Traits. C.A.S. also requires students to engage in one collaborative project during 11th grade.

Major Responsibilities:
C.A.S. Supervisors will:

• Commit to partnering with students for two years (approximately 10 will be assigned)
• Participate in one two-hour on-site training session in the fall of 2026 developed and presented by the C.A.S. Coordinator
• Complete three official student interviews (October of 11th grade May of 11th grade April of 12th grade) regarding their understanding of and progress within the C.A.S. requirement
• Push-in to IBDP core classes at scheduled times through the two years for student check-ins.
• Guide students through their required C.A.S. project including the investigation planning action demonstration and reflection phase.
• Utilize ManageBac the online journaling platform to monitor student progress toward requirements at least once a month
• Provide feedback on student portfolios in order to help them complete and/or improve on C.A.S. requirements
• Mentor and support students who are struggling to complete C.A.S. and/or meet deadlines and requirements
• Communicate with the C.A.S. Coordinator when students are struggling with C.A.S requirements
• Mentor and support students in setting meaningful CAS goals actions plans and reflections
• Monitor the range and balance of experiences undertaken by individuals
• Assist students with clarifying and developing the attributes of the IB learner profile
• Support students in understanding ethical concerns and international-mindedness
• Identify safety issues (risk assessment and child protection)

Qualifications:

• Current teacher at Stamford High School
• A valid Connecticut teacher certificate
• Superior communication skills (oral and written)
• Evidence of organizational ability and willingness to pursue tasks to successful completion
• Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with peers
• Preference will be given to current IBDP Core Teachers
• Preference will be given to current C.A.S. Supervisors

Term:
Two Years

Compensation:
$150 per year per student supervised.

Note: Teachers dually certified in TESOL Bilingual Education or ESL with experience in Sheltered Instruction or fluency in a language other than English will be given preference for all Stamford Public School positions.
