Were seeking a detail-oriented Staging Technician to join our Technical Services team.

In this role youll prepare configure test and document communications equipment before it is installed in the field helping ensure every system is delivered ready for mission-critical position requires a basic aptitude for mechanical electrical and electronic systems. Compensation and responsibilities are commensurate with the candidates skills experience and qualifications.

Compensation
Pay Rate: $28.00$35.00per hour
Compensation is based on the applicants experience technical skills education certifications and licenses.

Position Details
As a Staging Technician you will prepare configure test and document mission-critical communications equipment before it is deployed to customers.

Working as part of our Implementation Team you will assemble and configure equipment manage materials and inventory perform functional testing and ensure systems are complete accurate and ready for installation. Your attention to detail will directly contribute to the successful deployment of communications systems relied upon by first responders and other critical position reports to the Implementation Team Manager with daily work coordinated by the assigned Project Manager or Project Administrator.

Norcom projects include Motorola mobile and portable radios dispatch consoles communications shelters networking equipment microwave systems paging systems emergency warning systems and other public safety communications technologies.

Every day brings a variety of new equipment projects and opportunities to learn.

Primary Responsibilities

Equipment Staging & Configuration

  • Assemble cable label asset tag and configure communications equipment.
  • Perform operational and functional testing.
  • Print labels diagrams and documentation.
  • Verify systems are complete and deployment-ready.
  • Document work performed.
Material & Inventory Management
  • Receive and inspect incoming equipment.
  • Maintain inventory records.
  • Move equipment between departments.
  • Label and organize materials.
  • Assist with inventory audits.
  • Research misplaced equipment.
  • Maintain technical work areas.
Project Coordination
  • Update CRM and project management systems.
  • Monitor work queues.
  • Communicate with project teams.
  • Escalate issues promptly.
  • Prepare workspaces for customer visits.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Familiarity with basic mechanical and electrical principles is preferred including:
    • Equipment cabling
    • Low-voltage wiring
    • Connector installation
    • AC/DC voltage
    • Wire sizing
    • Switches and relays
    • Equipment grounding
    • Use of a digital multimeter (DMM)
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and diagrams.

Qualifications

Typical qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical electrical or electronic systems.
  • Ability to learn industry-standard equipment assembly labeling grounding and RF connector installation techniques.
  • Experience using common hand and power tools. (NorcomCT provides required specialty tools and test equipment; employees are expected to provide basic hand tools.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions wiring diagrams equipment layouts and documentation.
  • Proficiency using a Windows-based PC Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Excel web browsers and other common business and smartphone applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to prioritize work resolve routine issues independently and escalate concerns appropriately when necessary.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision while contributing as a member of a collaborative team.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with coworkers customers vendors and shipping carriers.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings weekends or extended hours when project schedules require.
  • Valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical drug screening background investigation and ongoing motor vehicle record reviews as required.

Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are beneficial but not required:

  • Experience working with two-way radio telecommunications networking or electronic equipment.
  • Experience with inventory management equipment staging shipping and receiving or warehouse operations.
  • Experience using CRM ERP inventory management or project management software.
  • Amateur Radio (FCC) license.
  • Experience as a two-way radio user amateur radio operator military communications specialist public safety professional or first responder.
  • Technical education vocational training military technical experience or industry certifications related to electronics communications or information technology.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds independently.
  • Lift heavier equipment with assistance when required.
  • Bend kneel squat climb and work in confined spaces.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Perform overhead work.
  • Possess sufficient manual dexterity and visual acuity to assemble and inspect electronic equipment.
