Job Summary
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for prescription verification (PV1 and PV2) oversight of non-sterile compounded medications and ensuring safe and compliant dispensing practices.
This role is not focused on hands-on compounding but rather on validating lab-prepared compounds supporting pharmacy technicians and maintaining operational accuracy and workflow efficiency.
This is a fast-paced execution-driven position ideal for a pharmacist who is detail-oriented operationally strong and comfortable working across multiple areas of pharmacy workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform PV1 and PV2 prescription verification with a high degree of accuracy
- Conduct final verification prior to fulfillment and shipment
- Review non-sterile compounded preparations for accuracy labeling and documentation
- Validate formulations prepared by the lab to ensure compliance with internal standards
- Ensure compliance with USP <795> and USP <800> guidelines
- Verify prescription details including dosing calculations and ingredient accuracy
- Support and oversee pharmacy technicians throughout workflow
- Maintain efficient processing in a high-volume environment
- Identify and resolve verification or processing issues
- Ensure proper handling and documentation of controlled substances
- Maintain an organized inspection-ready pharmacy environment
- Communicate updates and outstanding items for operational continuity
Required Qualifications
- PharmD or BS in Pharmacy from an accredited institution
- Active New York Pharmacist license in good standing
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage high-volume prescription workflows
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a compounding pharmacy environment
- Familiarity with USP <795> and USP <800>
- Experience with prescription verification workflows (PV1 / PV2)
- Experience in high-volume pharmacy operations
Salary
$55.00 $65.00 per hour
