Job Summary

REA is seeking a Staff Firmware Engineer for our Performance Computing Power (PCP) team in Austin TX where we develop the most advanced digital power ICs in the industry. You will architect design and maintain firmware for integrated circuits that supply power to the largest and most powerful advanced computing platforms. Your contributions will span low level circuits to large system design and you will see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing.

Job Duties:

  • Design develop and verify embedded firmware for digital PWM voltage regulators
  • Write firmware patches to implement new features or apply hardware workaround
  • Work with hardware design team to define interface based on user requirements
  • Write specification to document firmware architecture and implementation
  • Collaborate with validation team to bring up new silicon and debug any issues found
  • Develop automated tests to validate firmware on lab bench using test equipment

Qualifications :

  • 8 years of experience in firmware development on custom SOCs in pre and post silicon environment
  • BS/MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field
  • Expert at embedded firmware development in C and assembly programming language
  • Good understanding of software development cycle and version control system
  • Skillful at interrupt memory and performance optimization for real-time applications
  • Deep understanding of state machine driven task management and RTOS concepts
  • Experience working with hardware RTL design in Verilog
  • Proficient at Linux command line and a scripting language such as Python/Perl
  • Strong analytical skills and debug methodology with excellent attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of ARM cortex M-series processors and ARM compiler toolchain
  • Working experience with Cadence or Synopsys design tools: SimVision or Verdi
  • Solid understanding of serial bus protocols such as I2C SPI
  • Test Driven Development (TDD) and standalone FW unit test bench
  • Familiarity with DC-DC buck converter concepts and applications
